The Closing of a Cycle

I was recently reminded that this is a 9 year, and we are moving toward its end.

Over the past month, I’ve repeatedly seen an image of myself drawing lines, finishing patterns that I have been working my way through, and out of, coming to a close. And with each ending, I feel lighter, and more free.

Next year, numerologically, is a 1: a clear slate and a fresh start. Whenever I tune into its energy, I sense two strong archetypes - the Fool and the Magician.

While we often associate the Fool with ignorance or missteps, embodying the higher sense of this archetype is actually a place of power. The Fool is often depicted on the edge of a cliff, seemingly about to fall, sometimes with eyes closed, without safety or assurances. But there’s something we often forget: Faith.

Faith is not blind, as the saying goes. Faith requires deep trust. And trust comes through intuition. When we are truly tuned in, and willing to follow that inner sense, we know we are not about to plummet or fall. Instead, the next step lands firmly beneath us, holding us with strength.

The energy of a 1 year does not demand that we know the entire journey before we begin. We do not have to understand every chapter or have it all figured out. It is a liminal space, and in the liminal, there is freedom. We can dream, imagine, and play. Our hearts and minds expand, and we can sense possibilities beyond what we’ve known before. There is great power in this faith, and as we follow it, it strengthens.

The energy of the Magician naturally follows that of the Fool. The Magician also embodies imagination and faith, using what surrounds, not only in the tangible world, but also drawing from unseen planes and energies. Imagine the alchemist, transforming one material into another, one circumstance into a different one, less limited, less fixed, less in need of “reality” to build upon.

We all hold these archetypal understandings within us - the patience and faith of the Fool, the creative alchemy of the Magician.

But first, there must be a willingness to relinquish what binds us to our current realities and circumstances. A desire to create something newer, fresher, more expansive.

The temptation is to stay small, to walk the same path, hold the same habits. Yet much of what lies along our path at this time is simply debris, obstacle, distraction.

What if you could sweep it away, not through force or aggression, but by deciding you are willing to step off the old path and course-correct toward a better one?

A few points to ponder in the weeks ahead:

  • What distracts me most right now that does not serve where I want to go? How could I move my focus away from it?

  • Which identity carries the most obligation? Could I choose to embody another archetype instead?

  • Instead of trying to force a new way, what could I clean up, declutter, or release to clear the space and noise?

  • How could I begin to develop the faith of the Fool, or the alchemy of the Magician, now? What practices would help?

I wanted to share this with you, not so you would worry about the future, but so that you could be inspired to prepare. All that is required is to set aside the patterns that push you in ways you do not desire, and begin to seek a better focus.

Sending blessings to each of you, for Faith, for the Miraculous, and for a lighter load to carry.
