The week between Christmas and New Year is always one of my favourite weeks of the year. I spend time reflecting on what I have done, all that I've worked towards, what I have accomplished, and what is still evolving.
As this year has been so unique, I am finding that the usual questions I ask myself do not apply as much as they normally would. This year has been a year of meditation, introspection, of pivoting, and being more creative and inventive. We have been given opportunities to change focus, to flow in new directions, and to shake up the paths we have followed so that we can perhaps find another. As I spend time looking back at 2020, I am reminded of all that I have accomplished, mostly in ways that were not predicted or planned for.
My highlights include a trip to Cambodia to visit the school I had helped to build. I started the new year in Cambodia and Bali, two magical, beautiful, delicious countries, which reminded me of the power of sacred land, communion, and prayer.
I spent months reading, meditating, and RESTING. Resting in new ways that I would not have allowed in other circumstances. By the summer, I felt more rested than I had in years! I am grateful for the reminder of how nourishing having real time off can be.
I have be able to take more of my work online. While I do miss the in-person connection, I have been grateful that we have the technology and ability to do so! I have studied more, taken a few courses, and allowed myself to dedicate time to my own learning and evolution. These courses have deepened my understanding and application of Astrology, Leadership, Rapeh & Kambo Medicines, and living in Flow, and have improved my own life and work on so many levels.
And I finally reached my goal of reading 52 books in a year! (I keep track on Goodreads, a great app for the book worms of the world!) My favourites were The Dark Tower, Exhalation, and Bodhisattva Mind, you can find my profile here (I love seeing what others are reading, I've found great books from my friends lists!)
While predicting what 2021 will hold seems difficult, as I tune in, it certainly feels different! There is a feeling of more expansion and freedom, of new possibilities and opportunities. I am taking the optimistic view that we are crossing a threshold into a newer way of living and being. And I believe that if we can learn from the hardships of this year, we can make the next much more compassionate, loving, supportive, one that enriches and empowers.
So as I look back to appreciate all that I overcame, released, healed, I am able to look ahead towards a future that benefits from the lessons learned.
Janus, the God of endings and beginnings, doorways and transitions, (and where we get the name January) is an energy I frequently connect with, especially at this time of year. My prayer is always that I bring the wisdom of the past with me, to embody in the present, as I create my future. I wish the same for you, beautiful beings!
