What do you Glorify that is Totally Ordinary?

I've been listening to Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism lately, and I keep having to pause it, often mid-sentence, to ponder the points within...

I shared a piece of this during one of the recent eclipse events, but it’s asking to be mentioned again, with more space to explore.

There’s a passage in the book about being open that stopped me - We tend to revere those who seem open-hearted, open-minded. We place them on pedestals, believing that they are the enlightened ones, the “examples,” the ones who figured it out.

But we’re missing the whole point.

Because being open isn’t some rare, saintly feat. It’s not reserved for mystics or those who meditate at sunrise every day.

Openness is our natural state. It’s actually easier to be open than it is to be closed, guarded, defending, suspicious.

Take that in:
We believe that kindness is rare.
That compassion is hard.
That love is fleeting.
But none of that is true.

The truth? At the core of each of us is love, honour, grace.

And most of our suffering comes from denying that.
From armoring ourselves against the very things that would heal us.
We glorify what’s ordinary. We turn the sacred into something unreachable. We separate ourselves from what is already within.

To come home to ourselves, we have to stop making the divine into something “other.” We have to be willing to really see that the beauty we long for is already inside us.
We are the holiness we seek. We are the love we crave. We are heaven, embodied.

As we near the close of eclipse season - with the Libra Full Moon lighting up the sky this Sunday - consider sitting with these questions over the weekend. Let them open something in you:

  • What feels difficult or unreachable because I think I'm “just human”? What becomes possible when I remember that I'm also divine?

  • What do I believe is hard to be, express, or give? Could it be easier than I think?

  • If I dropped my armor and showed up - fully, honestly, as I am - what would change?

  • What would help me remember that the ordinary is holy, and that who I am is already healing, healed, whole?

This is your week to soften, to let the layers fall, to stop striving and start allowing.

You don’t need to chase the divine.
You are it.
You just have to let yourself be.

I am sending blessings for the Ordinary to move through you, your life, your paradigm. Let it be easy,

-Jennifer
