Why the Wound is the Way

Looking back at the way my life has unfolded, I've been proud of the fact that I'm someone who consistently pushes beyond her comfort zone. I backpacked through foreign lands and languages for over four months. I moved to a new country, a new continent. I taught English in Hong Kong just after SARS, and have said yes to adventure and expansion again and again.

But I've also come to see where I wasn't stretching - where I was bypassing, avoiding, shrinking instead. The part of me that loves an adventure, a change of scenery or pace, has always been willing to take the risk. But there are other parts of me that are far less brave.

Today's reflection turns you toward the things you don't find hard - not because they're easy, but because you've simply chosen not to address them. These are the untrodden parts of you: the paths less walked, the corners with little light. They're the least familiar, and in many ways, the most consequential. They may not shout dramatically, but the whispers ...

How Wounding Continues When You Avoid the Pain

Pain can feel like a tricky issue. We desperately want it to end, but we don't want to do the things that would end it. Not because we're incapable - some of the smartest, steadiest people I know have a few things spinning through their psyche, waiting for resolution. Each of us is capable, and it's made easier when you understand what's behind both the pain and your avoidance of it. Easier still when you can recognise the destruction created through that avoidance. Let's break it down.

In The Untethered Soul, Michael Singer gives a great example of what happens. He talks about getting a thorn stuck in your skin. Instead of pulling it out and letting the body heal, you leave it, and it begins to fester. You then have to devote energy and focus to keeping anything from irritating the wound - that alone becomes exhausting.

I cannot emphasise enough how much of this we are unconsciously doing every day. We opt out of a great party because we felt rejected at school. We stop singing or d...

What do you do with the parts of your story you'd rather not tell? | Autumn Offering

Today, under a Mars-ruled sky with the moon moving toward its last quarter, I'm opening the doors to something I've been building for a long time.

Over the years, the archetype of the Peaceful Warrior is one that I continue to revisit. I honour the duality of one built for battle, but who redirects that active, focused energy towards building, tending, nurturing. Archetypal work is always filled with polarities and dualities, which is what makes it so rich. The idea that we can take the shadow of a story and turn it into a strength is inspiring, it fills me with hope.

And so this Autumn, I will be offering a 7 week online group program, to walk us through the dualities of life and identity, so that we are no longer defined by them. And so that we can thrive within them.

The why behind it all: I've spent years watching brilliant, capable people - healers, leaders, teachers - hold the energy for everyone else, while struggling to manage their own in the background, as if it were somet...

What are you waiting for?

Hello beautiful beings, today is the 8/8 Lion's Gate Portal, which can help us to open up to more abundance, connection, alignment, creativity, and receiving, if you choose to allow it!

Over the past few months, a simple question keeps popping into my head, and has also been coming up in sessions/events-

What am I waiting for?

I think that sometimes we can wait for a 'special' transit or day (like 8/8), or demand a sign or synchronicity to move ahead. Sometimes we wait for a bolt of inspiration, or often until the suffering gets so bad that we have to act. But again, there is a lot of waiting involved.

I think that sometimes we can form an idea of how things are supposed to feel or unfold. Or that if your plan doesn't involve a 'eureka' moment, it isn't real. We're waiting for some massive breakthrough, when in reality, the signs, nudges, intuition, and evidence has been showing up consistently, regularly, in smaller ways.

Often, when we're waiting for the sign from the Universe, ...

How can your healing expand your impact upon the world?

Hello beautiful beings, I hope that you were able to navigate watery Cancer season with lots of Grace! We are now in Fiery Leo Season, in higher visibility, shining brighter, living from heart and soul. I am already feeling the shifts and enjoying the energetic sunshine!

Today, I feel inspired to write about what gets in the way of being greater leaders, teachers, healers, and guides.  The short answer: Our deepest , oldest wounds.

It is often our oldest wounds, the ones that feel most difficult to resolve, that can be the key to our greatest liberation, but also in sharing our greatest gifts.

We deeply desire to be of service, and to have an impact, especially when times are tough and the world desperately needs us. But if we are still cycling through old patterns and ways of seeing the world, we limit and diminish what we can offer.

If we are burnt out, we have little to share.

If we are in pain, we shy away from witnessing the pain in others.

If we are angry, hurt, grieving,...

Are you choosing through your Wounds or your Strength?

Acting from Strength, not from your Wounds

I have been watching the world around me lately, pondering the motivations that stir/push/move us to act. Various periods throughout history, as well as shifting consciousness, expectations, limitations, and what is considered 'acceptable' have woven throughout the meditations and observations, and I have again, come to the conclusion, that history repeats because we repeat.  And that can either serve us in beautiful ways, or slow our chances for healing, progress, freedom.

In terms of our negative choices, behaviours, and reactions, we are able to look back at the wounds and trauma that motivated us to react in such a way.  A broken heart motivates us to shy away from vulnerability and a chance at new love.  An overly strict or controlling parent can motivate us to avoid making our own choices because that had always been done for us.  A manipulative family member may motivate us to doubt others, to lack in trust, to close off from honest c...

Are your 'Wounds' creating Conflict or Empathy?

Hello human beings, I hope that you are feeling inspired by the beginning of Spring!  We are at the start of a new month with the energy of a new moon, at the beginning of an astrological new year!  So it sounds like the perfect time for a fresh start, right?

Well, yes, but first...

Energetically, the energy of our essence (the Sun), our emotional and intuitive body (the Moon), the ways we communicate and think (Mercury) will be conjunct/connected in the energy of the Warrior (Aries/Mars)...

So it may feel empowering for these energies to be moving forward, ready to be inspired, seeking passion and direction.  But if we haven't identified a path or direction that will keep that fire burning through healthy alignment, the fire could either go out, we could burn out, or 'burn' those around us, in an attempt to keep the excitement alive.

AND, all of this energy will be sitting with Chiron, the Wounded Healer.  We are each born into the world, divine and whole, and navigate th...
