I dreamt of Prince again. We were in his home, somewhere in the heart of a city. Inside, it was a haven: spacious, luminous, alive with beauty and possibility. Then we stepped outside, and the energy of the street hit me all at once - crowds, noise, too many bodies, too much everything. As I scanned the scene, bars began to emerge around me. When I looked closer, I saw they had been decorated with flowers, ribbons, and colour everywhere. And then the padlocks appeared. Dozens of them, and then hundreds.
When I woke, I sat with the imagery for a long time. What it showed me lives in my own life, and I suspect it lives in yours too.
As a highly sensitive person, I feel the pull to stay inside the sanctuary I’ve built for myself. I’ve shaped it with care, and it holds so much of what I love: my creative work, my offerings, my home. And I know this too - when new ideas, new conversations and new encounters stop flowing in, the sanctuary turns into a gilded cage. Beautiful, and still a ca...
First off, thank you to everyone who joined me on Wednesday for The Warrior and the Weaver. It was a gift to sit in circle with you and with the old story of the wounded healer and the weaver of fate.
The recording is here for you to return to whenever you need it: [Watch the recording]
With Leading from Within beginning this coming Wednesday, I want to share why I created it, and why I believe it is so needed now.
I believe true leadership is a calling. It isn't posturing or pretending, and it is not ego or control. Your sense of leadership becomes a response to something larger than ourselves, a willingness to be of service.
We hear a great deal about the filters of our age: the polished images and curated selves that shape how we see one another. But often, the filters that shape our leadership most are the ones we cannot see. They are formed by our own unresolved stories, the wounds we have not yet healed, and when we lead through them, we cannot see beyond them. Without meanin...
Looking back at the way my life has unfolded, I've been proud of the fact that I'm someone who consistently pushes beyond her comfort zone. I backpacked through foreign lands and languages for over four months. I moved to a new country, a new continent. I taught English in Hong Kong just after SARS, and have said yes to adventure and expansion again and again.
But I've also come to see where I wasn't stretching - where I was bypassing, avoiding, shrinking instead. The part of me that loves an adventure, a change of scenery or pace, has always been willing to take the risk. But there are other parts of me that are far less brave.
Today's reflection turns you toward the things you don't find hard - not because they're easy, but because you've simply chosen not to address them. These are the untrodden parts of you: the paths less walked, the corners with little light. They're the least familiar, and in many ways, the most consequential. They may not shout dramatically, but the whispers ...
Pain can feel like a tricky issue. We desperately want it to end, but we don't want to do the things that would end it. Not because we're incapable - some of the smartest, steadiest people I know have a few things spinning through their psyche, waiting for resolution. Each of us is capable, and it's made easier when you understand what's behind both the pain and your avoidance of it. Easier still when you can recognise the destruction created through that avoidance. Let's break it down.
In The Untethered Soul, Michael Singer gives a great example of what happens. He talks about getting a thorn stuck in your skin. Instead of pulling it out and letting the body heal, you leave it, and it begins to fester. You then have to devote energy and focus to keeping anything from irritating the wound - that alone becomes exhausting.
I cannot emphasise enough how much of this we are unconsciously doing every day. We opt out of a great party because we felt rejected at school. We stop singing or d...
Today, under a Mars-ruled sky with the moon moving toward its last quarter, I'm opening the doors to something I've been building for a long time.
Over the years, the archetype of the Peaceful Warrior is one that I continue to revisit. I honour the duality of one built for battle, but who redirects that active, focused energy towards building, tending, nurturing. Archetypal work is always filled with polarities and dualities, which is what makes it so rich. The idea that we can take the shadow of a story and turn it into a strength is inspiring, it fills me with hope.
And so this Autumn, I will be offering a 7 week online group program, to walk us through the dualities of life and identity, so that we are no longer defined by them. And so that we can thrive within them.
The why behind it all: I've spent years watching brilliant, capable people - healers, leaders, teachers - hold the energy for everyone else, while struggling to manage their own in the background, as if it were somet...
Hello beautiful beings, I hope that you are enjoying the power and heart of Leo Season, and are feeling just a little more courageous, a little less timid or small!
Every once in awhile, I hear a narrative about how when you shine brighter, you're more likely to be hurt, attacked, to evoke jealousy or fear. The storyline revolves around how goodness triggers others toward harmful thought or action. While this idea serves to turn people into victims and martyrs, the good news is that it isn't true...
Take a moment to really think about it - When was the last time you witnessed something that was wholly good, innocent, pure of spirit, and wanted to lash out at it? (I bet you didn't - I bet you wanted to cuddle that kitten or hug that child, or elevate what you were witnessing!)
The false narrative usually stems from a well-meaning person who is trying to 'do the right thing', but has allowed their wounding to motivate them to act in ways that lack in alignment or integrity. More often...
Every memory we recall, every bit of gossip we share, every bit of wisdom we offer has a story behind it, and within it.
Think about it for a moment - even the purest moment of epiphany becomes a story. You recall aspects of where you were, who you were with, how you felt in the moment, and then how you began to respond. You recognise the cause and effect of the choices you made, the changes you chose as a result. And you can recognise what lead you to the realisation in the first place, the series of events, what triggered or inspired you.
In one sense, the story is incredible useful, becuase it helps you to create meaning, or understand yourself in new ways. When we look back at our lives, or those of our family members, we can see points plotted out over time, that shaped perspectives, experiences, quality of life, and direction.
And if we can continue to see things from that higher perspective to learn and apply the wisdom, we're in a good place to learn and grow.
What can als...
Hello beautiful beings, I hope that you are feeling light, free, and full of hope for the next 6 months! Eclipse Season ended on Monday, so we've have had 6 weeks to untangle and unfold. What a process it has been! I'd encourage you to reflect on what has changed for you, how your focus or direction has shifted, and what you want to work towards over the next 6 months.
Personally, over the past year or more, I have known that something was shifting, both within me, and in what I am called to offer.
Once I began to design the changes, to talk to trusted friends and colleagues, I began to feel more aligned than I have in years. I am so excited to share all of this with you, but also feel totally centred, steady, and at peace with all that is unfolding. Peaceful Awareness, a beautiful place to be.
Some of these visions are still developing, but I wanted to share what I can with you now. I have included some information below, with links to more. If any of this calls you, or you th...
